My 2 friends and I were sitting at my place late at night on a rainy day, when Dora (this is her acting debut by the way) mentioned how creepy a flickering light in my building looks. I haven’t seen it myself so we all decided to run down together and check it out. The light indeed looked spooky, so we decided to do something with it. What you see in the video is the footage we managed to shoot in just a few hours.
The light appeared the be fixed the next morning :)
Art is a lie.
I love finding pieces of art that make you think, that make you look at this world from a different perspective.
A photo of a dried leaf that looks like an elephant. A video of a nude woman’s scratched torso spinning a hula hoop made out of barbed wire.
Provoking, daring, confusing.
It makes you question your comfortable way of seeing things, affected by morality and common sense.
- Look at that cloud, doesn’t it look like a cat?
- Looks just like any other cloud to me…
Nothing you see is what it is. Or what it can be.
They should make pills for this. And they do. But you don’t need them. Because there’s art. Art is a lie. A lie that takes you to a different world, changes your perception, opens your eyes.
Or is it our reality that’s a lie?…
If you haven’t tasted the 80’s in America, pay a visit to Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It’s a vintage bowling alley and a bar with live bands performing on an improvised stage in between the lanes. And make sure to bring your camera, because the characters you’ll see there are certainly not from the 21st century.
The place takes you back in time, and at moments, you’re wondering when’s the fight (or rather punishment) going to start, because a skinny guy from New York just tripped on big daddy-o’s motorcycle boots. Yes yes, just like you imagined - big beer belly, blue jeans, leather vest with gang signs and earrings you can put a finger through.
On the brighter side, if you’re lucky, you do come across a gorgeous 22 year old gal, wearing a white captain hat, dancing like there’s no tomorrow. She’s running her hands along her body, swinging her head to the beat of a newborn rock band and triggering men’s basic instincts. Then her hot girlfriend comes along, yelling jibberish into her ear and joining the trance and sweat inducing dance. The stakes have just been doubled…
